I am writing to you as a constituent who recognizes that we are facing a constitutional crisis in our nation. Trump’s reign of terror on the federal government and his unconstitutional acts, like trying to unilaterally shut down USAID and pause all federal payments, must be stopped. Please do not allow Trump’s dangerous cabinet picks to be confirmed, furthering his grip on power and allowing him to achieve his stated intention of reshaping the government in his image. Many of these cabinet picks are project 2025 collaborators, billionaires with significant conflicts of interest, and loyalists- not to our constitution but to Trump himself- who will do anything (legal or not) to enact Trump’s unpopular and harmful agenda. A significant number of them have not been able to directly answer questions about whether or not they will carry out illegal activities in their roles. Considering the recent supreme court ruling that gives Trump immunity from almost any illegal action that he takes as president and his willingness to use his power of the pardon to pardon anyone who engages in criminal activity on his behalf, this is a clear set up for authoritarianism.

Please hold the line and do not allow these nominees to be voted on until specific concessions and promises are made by the White House to curtail their illegal activities and stop their unconstitutional efforts to undermine the foundations of our democracy. I am calling on you to stand up for the people you represent and to take any measure necessary to stop these nominations and to stop the destruction of our longstanding democratic principles. Call a quorum, filibuster, take any and all means necessary to delay and obstruct these nominations in order to protect our nation and the American people. Do not allow these nominees through until Musk is out of our government and Trump makes promises to follow his oath to uphold our constitution. We are in a dangerous new age. Our planet is being destroyed by billionaires and corporations who continue to consolidate wealth, build illegal monopolies, and exert an unfounded amount of direct control on our people and our economy. All while our people often lack basic necessities like food, shelter, and healthcare. A wave of far right -and often statedly fascist- regimes are emerging even among our own allies. We must protect democracy for our people at all costs, and we must ensure that the United States is a place where everyone is able to live freely -without fear- and meet their basic needs. I am begging you to take a stand before it is too late.
